    How does my credit card guarantee my hotel reservation?
    When you supply us with your credit card, we pass that number to the hotel. Your hotel reservation will be held until the date and time you indicated that you would check in. If you cancel your trip or decide to stay elsewhere, you must cancel your hotel reservation or the hotel may impose a "no-show" charge.

    What are the room options?
    Select the number of beds you would like and if you would like a smoking or non-smoking room. Any additional special requests you may have should be added to the "Special requests" box. Special requests may include adding a crib or rollaway bed. Additional charges may apply for each request you make. We will forward your requests to the property, but we cannot guarantee that your requests will be honored.

    Are deposits required to hold reservation?
    Some accommodations require a deposit to hold a reservation. This deposit may be equal to the amount charged for one nights stay, or for the entire stay, and is immediately charged to your credit card. If an accommodation requires a deposit, it is usually listed on the "Rate details" page under "Review the rules and restrictions." Deposit policies are specific to each accommodation.

    Are there any charges to my credit card before I arrive?
    Carefully read the "rules and restrictions" on the "Rate details" page to find out if the accommodation will apply charges to your credit card before you arrive. Some accommodations require deposits, some apply charges if a traveler does not check in to a reserved room as scheduled, and some reservations are nonrefundable if canceled. Familiarize yourself with all rules that may apply to your reservation.

    How do I get my reservation confirmation?
    Once you click "Complete reservation" or "Request reservation," if your credit card is verified, you have committed to reserving this accommodation. Your itinerary will then see the "Reservation confirmed" page. Print a copy of this page for your records.

    Your reservation will be held until the date and time you indicated that you would check in. If you cancel your trip or decide to stay elsewhere, you must cancel your reservation or the accommodation may impose a "no-show" charge.

    How do I use a map to search for accommodations?
    To view a map showing the locations of all hotels in the search results list, click the Hotels on a map button at the top of the page. To view a map showing the locations of all vacation rentals, click the "Lodging on a map" button.

    Navigating the map
    To move the map a short distance at a time, click any of the triangle-shaped buttons in the "Map Mover" control to the right of the map. To return to your original map view, click the square button in the center of the "Map Mover."

    Use the "Zoom Level" to adjust the detail of the map. To zoom out, click the magnifying glass button that contains the minus (-) sign. Or, click any horizontal bar above the red bar. The shorter the bar you click, the broader your view. To zoom in, click the magnifying glass button that contains the plus (+) sign. Or, click any horizontal bar below the red bar. The longer the bar you click, the more detailed your view.

    To change the size of the map, select small, medium, or large from the drop-down box underneath the map.

    Using other map options
    To display only certain accommodations on the map, clear all other checkboxes, and then click "Update map." To clear all checkboxes, click "Clear all"; to select all checkboxes, click "Select all." Accommodations are represented by color-coded numbers. Consult the key below the map to verify that an accommodation is available for the dates you selected.

    How do I view the lodging information?
    When you click an accommodation name or "Hotel details" on the "Search results" page, we will display information specific to that accommodation. Some listings are more detailed than others, but basic information is available on all accommodations. Most listings include:
    • Description of the accommodation
    • Street Address
    • Local street map
    • Link to check availability
    Some listings may also include photographs, phone numbers, price range, amenities, check-in and check-out times, and forms of payment accepted by the accommodation.

    What is a Vacation Rental availability request?
    To book a Book by request property, you must submit a reservation or availability request. The property manager will check availability and respond within 48 hours.

    What is a reservation request?
    A reservation request is a request to book a specific property if it is available. When you send the request, you are agreeing to the property's policies. If the property is available, it will be booked for you. No further action will be required! Submitting a reservation request is the best way to secure the property you want to book.

    What is an availability request?
    An availability request is also a request to book a specific property. If the property is available, it will be put on hold for 24 hours. You can then book this property during the 24-hour hold. Vacation Rental properties have limited availability and often sell out far in advance, so don't delay in securing your desired property.

    When will the property manager respond?
    The property manager will respond to your reservation or availability request within 48 hours. We will send you an e-mail notification of the property manager's response, and the information will be added to the My Trips page.

    What must I do if the property is available?
    If you've sent a reservation request and the property is available, you have successfully booked the property of your choice. No further action will be required. The property manager's contact information will be revealed on the My Trips page, and you can contact the property manager directly to arrange any additional requests.

    If you've sent an availability request and the property is available, you have only 24 hours from the time the property manager responds to book this property. Vacation Rental properties have limited availability and often sell out far in advance, so don't delay in securing your desired property. To book a property before the hold expires, visit the My Trips page immediately after you are notified that the property is available.

    What happens if the property is not available
    If the property is not available for your requested dates, the property manager may suggest alternate dates or properties that are similar to your original request. If alternates are provided, they will be added to the My Trips page.

    Alternate dates and properties are available at the time the property manager responded. If you are interested in booking alternate dates or properties that were recommended, submit a reservation request quickly. Vacation Rental properties have limited availability and often sell out far in advance, so don't delay in securing your desired property.

    How do you rate the hotels?
    VacationOnline.com has rated a number of hotels using North American lodging industry standards and assigned a class to help with your lodging decisions. VacationOnline.com evaluates many factors, including accommodations, facilities, variety of services, price, and overall quality.

    These ratings are reviewed and updated as frequently as possible to provide you with current information. Hotel ratings should be regarded only as general guidelines designed to assist you in making your lodging decisions. Vacation rentals are not given hotel class ratings.

    Economy: *
    For the budget traveler where cost is the primary concern; usually denotes clean, no-frills accommodations and minimal on-site amenities.

    Value: **
    Simple accommodations with more thought given to décor and atmosphere; budget is still a consideration; may offer limited public space, a gift shop, and/or a coffee shop; amenities and on-site services are limited.

    Distinctive: ***

    How will you contact me if something changes in the itinerary or something goes wrong with our reservation?
    Designate a traveler in your party as a main contact. This person's name will be listed on the room reservation, and will be contacted if this itinerary changes or if there is a problem with the reservation. Please be sure to double-check telephone numbers for accuracy.

    How can I search for accommodation near an area or place?
    You can search for accommodations near an area or place by clicking the Near a place link.

    To search for accommodations near an or place, select from the following options:

    • Any destination, which indicates that you want to find an accommodation located in or near a city. For smaller cities that may not have accommodations listed in our database, you may want to type the name of a larger city nearby to broaden your search.
    • In a city, which indicates that you want to find an accommodation within the city limits.
    • Near an airport, which indicates that you want to find an accommodation located near an airport. Type the airport name or code in the "Place name" box.
    • Near an attraction, which indicates that you want to find an accommodation near a city or a major attraction, such as Disney World in Florida, U.S., or the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. When you type the name of the city or major attraction in the "Place name" box, the search results will show not only accommodations in the city where the attraction is located, but also in nearby cities. Keep in mind: We may not recognize lesser-known attractions.

    Why can I not make a reservation on a hotel?
    Although the property you mentioned is included in VacationOnline’s list of hotels, sometimes the reservation system VacationOnline uses reflects that a hotel property is sold out. Typically, hotel properties maintain space that may only be released by one of their onsite reservations agents. This is why you may be able to book a room directly with the hotel even when VacationOnline shows no rooms available.

    Under these circumstances, please contact the hotel directly to make a reservation. Be sure to guarantee for late arrival if necessary and to keep a record of your confirmation number.

    How do I use the Lodging Wizard?
    To use the VacationOnline Lodging Wizard, please follow these steps:
    1. Click the Lodging tab at the top of the page.
    2. Select a city by clicking on one of the quick-link buttons of top destinations listed, or by typing the name of your destination into the box labeled "Other Destinations."
    3. Supply your travel dates if you know them, although dates aren't necessary.
    4. Enter the number of adults and children from the drop down boxes. If you select from the children drop down you will be asked to supply their ages in the additional Child boxes that appear for each child. And then click "Search."
    VacationOnline will present you with a list of hotels or vacation rentals for the destination you selected. You now have the option to view hotel details via the Hotel details links or view the rate details via the "Book it" links.

    If you need further help, scroll down the page and look for a link in the left column that says "Need help with this page?" This link will display a help page with additional details.

    How do I cancel a hotel reservation?
    To cancel a hotel reservation you would need to access your itinerary online from "My Trips." Then scroll down and click on "Cancel this hotel reservation."

    What if I have to check in late?
    Reservations can be guaranteed for late arrival. If you need to advise your hotel of late check-in, please call us at 1-888-205-3315. Our agents are ready to assist you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

    If you don't notify us or the hotel that you will be late, no-show penalties could apply.

    Can I change or cancel my lodging reservations?
    Lodging can be changed or canceled according to each property's rules and restrictions. Some properties impose penalties, such as one night's stay, if you cancel your reservation within a certain number of days before your scheduled check-in date. Other properties, such as VacationOnline Special Rate lodging, charge a small penalty for changes made any time after a room is booked.

    To change or cancel a lodging reservation, go to "My Trips" and open the itinerary that contains the lodging you wish to change or cancel. Click "Cancel this reservation" and review the refund and penalty details.

    Can I book multiple hotel rooms?
    Yes. To book multiple hotel rooms, select the desired number of rooms from the "Rooms" drop-down box of the Lodging Wizard. You will be asked to specify the number of adults and children that will be staying in each room. A maximum of three rooms can be booked in one reservation.

    1. Go to the home page and make sure you are signed in.

    3. Click on the link for the itinerary you wish to view.

    I booked and paid for hotel accommodations. Can I check out early?
    Early check out is allowed, but will not always result in a refund. In most cases, you will forfeit the remaining amount paid. If you need to check out early from a hotel for which you received an VacationOnline Special Rate, please contact us to determine the penalty amount.     Are hotel room types guaranteed?
    VacationOnline collects your bedding and room (smoking or non-smoking) preferences at the time of booking. We pass this information on to the hotel as a request.

    Unfortunately we cannot guarantee this request. VacationOnline will do all possible to request the type of room you prefer, but ultimately it is based upon availability at the time of check in and is up to the discretion of the hotel property.

    What does "run of the house" mean?
    "Run of the house" means that all rooms are the same price, regardless of room type. Reservations for specific rooms or room types are not accepted. The assumption is that you will be offered the best available room when you arrive at the hotel. Nevertheless, it is advisable to look at other available rooms if the "best" one you are shown first is not to your liking.

    What does "Full American Plan" mean?
    American plan, also known as FAP, is a meal plan that offers breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel you have booked. Drinks may or may not be included.

    What is a Continental Plan?
    The term Continental Plan refers to a room rate that includes a continental breakfast (a very light breakfast consisting usually of coffee or tea, juice, and a roll or pastry).

    "A la carte" is a French expression that translates to "in the manner of the bill of fare." It is generally used to describe a meal in which each dish selected is paid for separately.
